New York-based finance executive Roy Dowdell spends much of his free time traveling across the world. In addition to visiting Mexico, Jamaica, and Canada, Roy Dowdell frequently vacations in Hawaii, where he enjoys scuba diving in Maui.
When visiting Maui, there are a number of excellent scuba diving sites that you can visit, including the following:
Molokini Crater—This spot is widely-regarded as one of the most popular places to scuba dive in all of Hawaii, attracting thousands of visitors daily. Located three miles offshore in a sunken crescent-shaped volcanic crater, the site features depths of more than 130 feet. Molokini is also a bird sanctuary and nature preserve, featuring sharks, manta rays, humpback whales, and hundreds of species of fish.
The Cathedrals—Located 45 minutes away from Maui’s Lahaina Harbor, this area is perfect for more experienced divers. It features tall, protruding rock formations that you can swim through at depths of 60 feet.
Black Rock—Great for snorkeling and shore diving, Black Rock in Maui’s Kaanapali Beach Park features clear waters and a host of sea life. With depths of only 35 feet, the site is appropriate for divers of varying experience levels and is also a popular place to go night diving.
